Tuskar Challenge 2009

Ferrycarrig Rowing Club hosted the Tuskar Challenge last Sunday the 3rd of May, which takes place every 2nd year, with clubs travelling from as far as Dublin and Cork to take part on the day.  The course was altered at the last minute to take into account adverse weather conditions but did not deter from a gruelling row for all who took part. The Rushbrooke mens team was the first cross the finish line and achieved an excellent time of 1 hour and 28 minutes with the blackrock mens coming in just under a minute behind them and Arklow not far behind. In the mixed it was Edermine who took first position with a time of 1 hour 30 mins and St Kearns coming in second. With the Ferrycarrig ladies themselves crossing the finishing line in 1 hour and 48 minutes. All Contenders put up a strong competition. Congratulations go to the winning teams and of course to all who participated - Well Done to all!!! For those who are interested in rowing the Ferrycarrig are hosting a beginners night on fri the 8th of May at 7pm.  We are based on the old ferry rd just under the railway bridge - we look forward to seeing new faces!
