The Irish Coastal Rowing Federation has compiled a small Rowing Safety Guide which offers safety advice to our member clubs.
The guide can be accessed by going to the Safety Page which has been retitled 'Think Safe - Row Safe'.

FISA Coastal Rowing World Championship NEWS
Monika wins GOLD at World Coastal Rowing Championships 2009
Monika Dukarska of Killorglin Rowing Club conquered the seas of Plymouth to become single sculls world coastal champion 2009. Monika fought off the challenges of 11 other rowers from Italy, UK, France, Ireland and Cyprus to come home in first place.
A reception for Monika will take place in the boathouse in Killorglin to-morrow night (Monday) at 8.15. All are invited to celebrate with Monika.
Crews from Kilmacsimon, Fossa, Bantry and Arklow rowing clubs also participated with the Bantry pair of Merlin Tanner and Liam Young coming an unlucky 4th in the men's double final and Kilmacsimons John Keohane coming a close 4th in the men's single scull final.

Wold Coastal Rowing Championships Plymouth, UK. Oct w/e
Following the World Coastal Rowing Championships, to be held in Plymouth, England between 23rd and 25th October 2009, the ARA have decided that in order to develop the Coastal Rowing sector within the UK it intends to sell all the equipment after the Championships have been concluded.
All the equipment will be brand new for the event and will comprise Quads, Doubles, Singles, Blades, Life Jackets, Road Trailers and Launch Trolleys for the Quads.
At present the cost of the equipment has not been finalised, but any club or individual interested in purchasing equipment, either as a package or individual components should, e-mail the ARA's representative Ian Douglas on blackdown1998@hotmail.com to express an interest in acquiring equipment/reserve equipment subject to the final prices being agreed.
May be of interest to some clubs.

On behalf of everyone who attended, both competitors, officials and supporters, We would like to sincerely thank Norma Moriarty and all the members of Waterville Rowing Club for the tireless work and effort they put into providing us with an absolutely magnificent All-Ireland Championships at a fabulous venue in a spectacular setting. Barrow Challange, New Ross, 12th September, Invitation
Clubs of the ICRF have been invited by the New Ross Boat Club to participate in an 18 Kilometre race on the River Barrow to New Ross. The Event is part of the New Ross River Festival.

Memorial to Bealacoon Tragedy, West Cork, Sunday 6th September 2009
To all clubs and rowing people of West Cork,
Ardfield Rathbarry Rowing Club would like to invite you to the unveiling of a memorial on Sunday the 6th of September 2009. The memorial is for 11 people that were lost at sea while returning from Glandore Regatta in 1859.
Due to the historic nature and that all on board were lost, there is not much information on this tragedy except that the boat was capsized close to shore at Bealacoon, a small stony beach to the west of the Galleyhead.
Bealacoon itself has a rich fishing history with many a fisherman from the west pulling his boat ashore to shelter in times gone by. A lot of these boats were from Baltimore and the islands but stopped coming east during the 60’s.
We have some newspaper articles on the regatta itself but if anyone has further info they would like to give us it would be much appreciated. The regatta’s at that time were held over two days, on a Monday and Tuesday and it was on the Tuesday evening that the incident occurred.
If the weather permits we will endeavor to row from Glandore to Bealacoon starting at approx 4pm to land in Bealacoon on high tide at 6pm, if any other club would like to join us they are more than welcome but I would ask that you organize your own safety/change over boat. The memorial unveiling itself will take place shortly afterwards with refreshments back in Fishers Cross, less than a mile away.
I will have further details in the next two weeks but I wanted to make sure that this Sunday would be kept free as the date is important to the whole thing.
If anyone has further info on the Regattas at that time then I would be delighted to hear from you.

The deadline for renewal of EXPIRED ID cards is the 17th of June. This applies to all ID Cards for all rowers who intend rowing U21 and under this season, these cards are numbered 3632 downwards.
The deadline for submission of New Registrations is 31st of July.
The fee in both cases is 5 Euros.
Completed Registration Forms (New Registrations & Renewals) should be sent to the Registrar & accompanied by the appropiate documentation, (including old card for re-newals) & fee to :-
