Templenoe Regatta took place on Sunday last and all clubs were out in force with numbers rowing. The day started out with the Under 12 Race and we were given a thriller with Cromane and Sive fighting it out to the Finishing line with Cromane winning Gold taking the first race of the day. The U14 girls of Portmagee look like their the crew to beat in this category and we had a huge battle between Callinafercy and Cromane for the silver with Callinafercy taking it on the line. Valentia were in flying form again winning U16 + U18 Girls and the Senior Ladies. The boys of Killorglin won the U16 and U18 Boys and the senior Men of Portmagee won a thriller taking the gold ahead of Fenit and Valentia. I have to give special mention to the Under 18 Girls of Valentia who rowed a super race taking the Gold ahead of Sneem and Sive and this was a hard fought race from start to finish with the lead changing a couple of times there was great heart in the boat and one could see how much it meant to the crew this is def a race to look out for next weekend.
The Seine Boat was a three boat contest and all on the pier were looking to see if the Liberator could back up her previous win. The men of Cnuicin were in determined mood and once the shot went they were out of the blocks like lightening and went straight into the lead followed by Valentia and in third place The Liberator, as we rowed toward the first buoy there were attacks a number of times by both Valentia and Cnuicin and they shared the lead but always in the shadows were the Liberator and she made her move with less than a minute to go to the first buoy and Cnuicin it must be said tried their upmost to counteract the move and went with them but alas the Liberator had cleared their stren by the first buoy and as I had a birds eye view in the commentary boat there was plenty temper in the Liberator from first buoy to second and they took the lead and never looked back Cnuicin finished second and Valentia third.
